Buyer Protection
Last updated: 26 May 2026
We're one dealer, not a marketplace — you buy directly from us, and our reputation is on every order. This policy explains what you can expect when buying from us and how we put things right if something goes wrong. It sits alongside, and does not limit, your rights under the South African Consumer Protection Act, 2008 (CPA).
What we promise
- Honest descriptions. Every part and truck is described as accurately as we can. Photos are of the actual item.
- Vintage condition, fairly stated. These are used items. We call out the wear, patina, and any damage we know about. If something material would surprise you, we tell you.
- Safe payment. Card and instant-EFT are handled by Payfast. For Manual EFT we publish our bank details on the checkout page and verify every proof of payment within four business hours.
- Quick dispatch. Paid orders are dispatched within two business days, with a tracking number added to the order.
- One named person who reads every email. Support questions are answered by the owner — not a queue.
If it arrives wrong
Email info@vintagetruckparts.co.za within seven days of delivery with your order number and a photo of the issue. We'll respond within one business day with a return label or collection plan, and one of:
- a repair, where it makes sense;
- a replacement, if we have an equivalent in stock;
- a refund of the item price and the original delivery fee.
“Wrong” means: not the item shown in the listing, a material defect we didn't disclose, or damage that happened in transit. For damage in transit, keep the packaging — the courier may want to see it.
Change-of-mind returns
Under the Electronic Communications and Transactions Act, 2002 (ECTA s44) you have seven days from delivery to cancel an electronically-concluded order without giving a reason. To use this right:
- email us within seven days of delivery to start the cancellation;
- return the item in the condition you received it, unfitted and unmodified, in its original packaging where possible;
- return shipping is at your cost.
Once we have the item back and it's in resaleable condition, we refund the item price. ECTA exclusions apply — some categories (e.g. goods made to your specification) can't be cancelled this way.
What we can't take back
To keep things fair for everyone, we can't accept returns of:
- parts that have been fitted, used, painted or modified;
- consumables (gaskets, seals, fluids) once their seal is broken;
- items where the failure is caused by misuse, improper fitment, or a separate vehicle problem.
None of this overrides your rights under the CPA or ECTA where those rights apply.
How refunds happen
- Payfast orders — refunded to the original card or bank account via Payfast.
- Manual EFT orders — refunded by EFT to the account you paid from. We confirm the account number with you before paying out.
- Refunds are processed within five business days of the item being received back and inspected (or of cancellation, where the item was never delivered).
If we can't agree
If you're not satisfied with our response, you can:
- lodge a complaint with the National Consumer Commission;
- approach the Consumer Goods and Services Ombud for a free, independent mediation; or
- take the dispute to a South African court.
For card / instant-EFT payments you can also raise a dispute with your bank or with Payfast directly. We'd rather hear from you first so we can fix it — most issues resolve in a single email.
